Computed tomography (CT scan)
CT scan, referred to technological and informative methods, based on obtaining cross-sectional images via 3D reconstruction, is a great demand for early detection and treatment of a number of diseases. In Slavmed Medical Center this type of examination which is in a high demand throughout the country is carried out by the up to date technique, which provides not only 160 slices per rotation, that is 160 shots, but minimal radiation dose thus enabling to examine all organ system without limitation. An important advantage of this up to date technique is that even with a minimal radiation dose it is possible to carry out even half-millimeter thick layer examination almost at the cellular level, which minimizes the possibility of missing something between the layers.
There is no restriction for being examined at “Slavmed” Medical Center, as it is the unique equipment throughout the country that allows to examine even patients weighing 300 kilograms.
Indications for CT performance are as follows:
Brain CT-scan is performed in the following cases:
Suspected acute intracranial hemorrhage
Acute subarachnoid hemorrhage
Suspected arterial-venous aneurysm
Suspected primary, secondary or recurrent tumor of brain or its membranes
Anomalies in children’s brain development
Focal inflammation of brain (abscess, granuloma, etc.)
In case of trouble hearing
When having symptoms of intracranial hypertension
Brain inflammatory diseases (abscess, granuloma, empyema, etc.) and assessment of care delivery
Diagnostics of degenerative diseases of brain
A need for both traumatological and non-traumatological examination
CT scan of the orbits is performed in the following cases:
Volumetric formations of orbits in cranio-orbital area
Exophthalmos of unknown etiology
Traumatic injuries
Examination of visceral cranium is performed in the following cases:
Inflammatory diseases of paranasal sinuses
Oncology diseases of paranasal sinuses
Traumas
Planning of surgical placement of tooth implants in maxilla and mandible
A need for both traumatological and non-traumatological examination
An examination of thorax is performed in the following cases:
Focal disease of lungs
Suspected initial pulmonary tumor
Detection of hidden metastases to lungs and pleura in case of malignant tumor
Examination of mediastinum organs (heart)
Aneurysms of thoracic part of aorta
Suspected tumor of pleura based of X-ray examination
Estimation of lungs condition in case of possible massive pleural fluid of oncological origin
Diseases of lymphatic system which suppose involvement of lymphatic nodes
A need for both traumatological and non-traumatological examination
Examination of abdominal cavity is performed in the following cases:
Suspected bleeding of traumatic rapture
Liver diseases
Diagnostics of fatty hepatosis and hemochromatosis
Suspected pancreatic diseases
Primary and secondary tumors in abdomen
Differential diagnostics of free and encysted fluid in abdomen
Aneurysms of abdominal part of aorta
Suspected tumor in retroperitoneal space
Retroperitoneal abscess, hematoma
Involvement of retroperitoneal lymphatic nodes caused by hemoblastosis
Metastasis to the retroperitoneal lymphatic nodes
Suspected kidney tumor
X-ray and radionuclide studies in case of kidney dysfunction
Kidney injury
Urolithiasis
Diseases of bladder
Space-occupying process of pelvic area
It will be recalled that in order to increase the reliability of the diagnosis also bolus tracking may be required.
